The Bhu Bharathi portal was launched officially dated 14th April 2025 by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad; it is a significant initiative undertaken to strengthen land security and guarantee transparency in land record matters.
With this uniquely set-up digital initiative, Telangana seeks not only to provide a long-term solution to land disputes but to give landholders a record of their properties that is verifiable and centralized.
What is the Bhu Bharathi Portal?
The Bhu Bharathi portal from the revenue system is a flagship action to streamline land records with the aim to put an end to ownership disputes in Telangana. The CM Revanth Reddy declared, “The portal will bring in a dispute-free revenue administration, henceforth giving long-term solutions to grievances on land.”
Under this initiative, one feature is the Bhudhar card, which will tie in all land information for landowners. The digital card will facilitate verifying ownership and help reduce fraud and legal complications in ownership grievances.
How does the Bhu Bharathi portal work?
The government, on a pilot basis, has launched this portal in four mandals:
- Khammam
- Mulugu
- Kodangal
- Kamareddy
Mandal Revenue Officers (MROs) would visit every revenue village in these areas and sort out existing land disputes by May 1. After the pilot phase, the portal would be extended into one block in each district for similar orderly resolution of all land disputes, starting June 2, to eventually welcome the entire state, so that all landowners can partake in this transparent system.
Key Objectives of the Bhu Bharathi Initiative
- Permanent Dispute Resolution – The portal intends to resolve the lingering land conflicts through a structured approach and procedures that would stand legal scrutiny.
- Bhudhar Card Integration – A single digital record for landowners, ensuring easy access and verification.
- Public Awareness & Participation – Revenue conferences and public darbars will be conducted in the villages for the awareness of farmers and redressal of grievances.
- Rigorous Implementation – The government has urged the revenue staff to stand with the villagers, calling them the “eyes of the farmers” in ensuring the law’s success.
What CM Revanth Reddy Envisaged with Land Reforms
CM Reddy recently remarked that public participation would also be very crucial in shaping the Bhu Bharathi Act: “We introduced the Bhu Bharathi Act after gathering feedback from countless citizens. Our goal is to permanently resolve land issues and restore trust in the revenue system. Revenue staff must actively engage with farmers, dispel misconceptions, and enforce the law effectively. Only through cooperation can we bring this reform to every village.”
